HUF RETAIL
This is a proposal for a retail design for a clothing brand ‘HUF’. Which are classic American craftsmanship, timeless vintage design, and an appreciation for fine-and-functional modern detail to produce quality goods that incorporate the past and present to create the future.
The site is a very populated location as it is sitting in the main shopping area. It is surrounded by many famous brands such as Diesel, Jack Wills, Ted Baker and Boss.
The retail is proposed to be in an urban, street style. As the founder of HUF was grown up in skateboarding in the gritty streets of New York City’s late-80s, which is very similar to the product’s style. There will be display areas along with the windows, to attract customers, and mainly for them to get an idea of the style of the products.
The design uses a lot of brick and timber to create an urban style. The first thing you see on the left once entering the store is the shoe section, and the clothing section on the right. Black brick walls are placed to make the product more eye-catching. Also, there is a slope in the middle as an indoor display section, which the shape is inspired by board-skating parks.
The display area is behind the clothing section, along with the window. Therefore, natural light from that side of the windows will be blocked. As a solution, more openings will be created in the front. Check out counter and fitting rooms are place at the back of the store.
First floor of the store is designed to be a cafe. The design of the cafe is still very street style, and the material is very similar to ground floor. However, instead of black brick walls, red ones are used in the cafe, to clarify the function of the are- as.
Toilets is available on the second floor and for the disables to access the cafe, lift is installed.
Counter and kitchen is placed right opposite the stairs, so visitors can order their food straight away after they reach second floor.
The counter is designed to be a ship container like table to increase the sense of street style.
